Abstract
This paper presents the findings of a survey which was designed to identify characteristics such as gender, age, employment etc. of students following six study programmes at the OUSL. The sample consisted of 2197 students registered for the selected programmes. The findings were then related to established trends in the conventional university system to highlight existing similarities and differences.
